Spaniard Dani Pedrosa took the top podium spot at Laguna Seca in California for his first win in over a year of motorcycle racing. Starting in forth spot on the grid, Pedrosa raced faultlessly posting laptimes quicker than any of his rivals along the way. Despite a late charge from Italian Valentino Rossi on the Fiat Yamaha, the spaniard held his nerve to the chequered flag, leaving Rossi and Countryman Jorge Lorenzo in second and third respectivley. Austrialian Casey Stoner steering his Ducati into fourth berth to claim valuable championship points. Britains James Toseland continuing his disappointing season by failing to finish.
