After finishing second in the last two races, Italian reigning MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi claimed his first race victory of the season. Over one hundred and twenty thousand race goers winessed Rossi come from behin to claim the number one podium spot. Under pressure local boy Dani Pedrosa came in a close second on his Honda despite holding the early laps ahead of both Rossi and third place Australian Casey Stoner.
Rossi who was nearly a second off pole position at the start squeezed into third place ahead of Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo on the second lap and then passed Stoners Ducati on the seventh lap to move intop second place.
Rossi held tight one and a half seconds behind Pedrosas motorcyle until lap 27 before a neat pass similar to the one that took Lorenzo.
Pedrosa was kept the second position kept up his feat of finish fitrst or second in every Moto GP race at this track. Third place looked interesting as Stoner encountered a late charge for third place from Lorenzos Yamaha.
The spaniard however blew his chance losing control with four laps to go and taking his motorbike for a slide on the gravel. Fourth place was picked up by Randy de Puniet on the Honda MotoGP, to set him up for his home Grand Prox at Le Mans two weeks later.
the 250cc race provided an entertaining battle between four riders for the front position.Hiroshi Aoyama emerging as the Victor ahead of Álvaro Bautista in second and Italian Marco Simoncelli in Third.
In the 125cc event, Englands Bradley Smith finished first ahead of Sergio Gadea and Marc Marquez who posted second and third respectively.
